Khesan Biography

• Destined for melodic greatness, Reggae soul artist and songwriter Khesan, who was born Richard Dixon, is not afraid to push the boundaries of the musical landscape carving out an authentic sound that has often left labels struggling to place it into one genre. Seamlessly fusing Dancehall Reggae, Rap and R&B, Khesan refers to his creation as “Rag n’ B”. 
• A native of Jamaica, Khesan migrated to Toronto, Canada at the tender age of 10 years and planted himself in the music where he found great solace.  He started out performing at local community gatherings and quickly became a crowd favorite taking the top prize at any talent show he entered.  Those humble beginnings contributed to a series of events that has shaped Khesan into the consummate entertainer he is today that is able to move fluidly between soul dripping R&B; rhythm-pumping Dancehall Reggae and energetic Rap. 
• He has since made appearances in various places both in North America and abroad creating a buzz wherever he lands. In addition to shows in the United Kingdom, Khesan has performed at World Reggae Fest in Europe, Sting which is an annual showcase of international and local talent, Sunfest in Jamaica and the Best of the Best where he boasts as the opening act for Florida’s own True G’s.  
• Blending conceptual song writing and intoxicating lyrical content, Khesan has co-produced and maintained creative control on every song and attributes this to his unique sound. With a song for every and anyone, Khesan’s material focuses on the realities of love, life, self-awareness and the state of the human consciousness having the ability to take your soul on a journey. 
• There’s “Going Nowhere” the poignant lover’s rock song intricately intertwined with beautiful harmonies; the bubbly party track “What kind of girl are you”; the love song “Waiting for Your Love” often described as “soul dripping” or the acoustic guitar driven “Mi Fed Up” which introduces you to Khesan’s willfully political side.  However, out of all of the songs he has written and co-produced, “Cold Word” is his heart expressing feelings towards poverty, pain and loneliness and resonates even to this day with the social ills that we bear witness to. 
• With a firm foundation after his 4-year stint signed to independent label, Just Platinum Crescent Records, Khesan is using what he learned about the industry and is currently working on his EP album project while continuing to build his craft and hone his skills.   
• With his sights on future collaborations with Steven Marley, Vybez Kartel, Drake, Timberland and Dr. Dre, Khesan is determined to “shake up things a little, you can count on that”.
